The Story
Our main activity is focused on organizing and conducting various educational and community-building events for kids and adults.
When the war began we unanimously decided to convert our 'Headquarters' into a free of charge hostel for Ukrainian refugees, prioritising mothers with children. The HQ is a small wooden house situated in a lovely park area of Jazdow, which we rent from the Warsaw City Council. The house has three separate rooms, a living room, kitchen and bathroom, surrounded by a fairly big garden.
In the last eight months our organization has provided a much needed shelter to over 50 families. We have been assisting our guests with various other tasks, such as getting them registered with the local authorities, organizing medical appointments, schools for the kids, etc. We try our best to provide them with all the basics such as bedding, towels, toiletries, staple foods and drinks. We also help our guests to become a part of the 'Homes for Ukraine' programme, launched by the British government in March 2022.
Seeing genuine support and strong commitment from the people in the UK we would like to ask you for help. We intend to continue supporting Ukrainian refugees in every way we can, but our funds are running low. Just like in the UK, energy prices here have increased dramatically this year, which was not too big of a deal during summer, but now the winter is coming and we expect a new wave of refugees very soon. We would like to be able to afford heating (the house is equipped with a woodburner), pay water and electricity bills, and buy some basic food for our guests.
We very much appreciate your initiative, and hope it will keep us afloat.
